Tessera meant two things in Latin: a mosaic tile, and a token of proof. One tile in a bigger picture — and a thing you fit back together to prove it’s real.

That’s an audit. Every control is one tile; the full picture only appears once they’re all tested. And no tile goes in on faith — each rests on a cited file and an exact passage you can check yourself.

Tessero works that way: every pass, exception, and finding traces back to the document and the line it sits on. Inside the product the agent has a name — Tess, the one who tests.
